Putting Health First
Welcome. I am Kishan Patel presenting to you: “Putting Health First”. My campaign is about helping people who are dramatically suffering from aphasia disorder. Aphasia is a brain disorder that makes it hard for people to speak, understand words, read, or write. It typically occurs when the brain’s language areas get damaged, usually from a stroke or brain injury.

Our Story
Supporting those with aphasia is a cause close to our hearts, shaped by personal connections. Witnessing loved ones navigate the challenges of aphasia has illuminated the profound impact of this language disorder. Their resilience in overcoming difficulties with speaking, understanding, reading, and writing has inspired our commitment to raising awareness and supporting efforts to improve communication therapies and, ultimately, enhance quality of life. Through our work, we aim to promote research, build supportive communities, and advocate for compassionate care for those affected by aphasia.
Our Campaign
At Putting Health First, we are dedicated to supporting individuals with aphasia by donating funds to hospitals that provide care for those with this language disorder, as well as to the National Aphasia Association. You might be wondering—what does golf have to do with aphasia? Our unique approach allows people to donate golf balls and other golf accessories, which we sell to raise funds. Every dollar generated goes directly toward supporting aphasia research, speech therapy programs, and resources for those affected. Even a single donated golf ball can make a meaningful impact in helping individuals regain their ability to communicate.
Golf Classes
We will provide free golf lessons for elementary school students (3rd – 5th Grades). We teach the fundamentals of putting and chipping. In golf, putting and chipping are essential skills that contribute significantly to a player’s overall performance on the course. Putting involves using a putter to roll the ball into the hole on the green. It requires precision, control, and a good understanding of the green’s slope and speed. On the other hand, chipping is a short-distance shot typically played from the fringe or rough around the green. Golfers use a variety of clubs for chipping, aiming to loft the ball onto the green and roll it close to the hole. Both putting and chipping demand a combination of technique, touch, and a deep understanding of the course conditions to excel in the game. We will teach these skills to our students in our lessons.
